A Visit From Grandma
My grandma, my mom's mom, passed away suddenly in November of 1999.
I have been having this dream for the past year or so, that I am back in my grandma's house, visiting with her. Only the house looks very strange. Once I realize in my dream that my grandma has passed away, she disappears, and everything gets sort of melancholy.
Last night, I had the same dream, only this time I thought I would try something new. I am a bit of a lucid dreamer from time to time; lucid meaning that I realize in my dream that I am dreaming and can manipulate my dreams.
Anyway, in my dream, my mom, grandma, and I are sitting around my grandma's dining room table, talking. Once again, I realized that my grandma had passed on years ago and should not be there talking with us. I think I even said to my grandma, "You passed away almost six years ago. What are you doing here?" Just then, my grandma got up and started to leave. I said, "Wait a minute. You don't have to go." My grandma said she felt bad that she left us so suddenly and apologized to my mom and me for upsetting us. I went over to her and said, "It's okay. You're in a better place where you are happy. You are with Granddad again." I gave her a hug. She even smelled the way I remember. We hugged for awhile. I said, "You know you can visit me anytime you want and it does not have to be in a dream like this." With that, we said our goodbyes. I said, "I'll see you soon, then?"
With that, she was gone.
